Job Description

Parent Coaches deliver the Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up (ABC) program, partnering with families to support responsive parenting and child development. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, Parent Coaches work in-person across New York City. This role involves direct family engagement, developing relationships with caregivers, providing feedback to caregivers, and ensuring program fidelity through documentation and regular supervision.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery and Support:

  • Prepare for and facilitate weekly in-home sessions for a caseload of 10-15 families.
  • Deliver ABC content in an accessible way to promote responsive parenting skills.
  • Provide feedback to caregivers through in-the-moment coaching and video highlights.
  • Establish trusting relationships and maintain proactive engagement of families.
  • Commute via public transportation or personal vehicle to family homes across the five boroughs, accommodating family schedules with evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Support other teams and departments as needed to reach organizational goals.

Administration:

  • Clip and store session recordings for supervision and caregiver review.
  • Accurately document sessions and case notes in the organization’s internal database systems as well as others such as Connections.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date calendar, inclusive of all tasks, sessions, and meetings.

Supervision and Professional Development:

  • Prepare for and participate in weekly supervision sessions to support ABC delivery and professional growth.
  • Work towards ABC certification in newborn, infant, or early childhood models based on program needs.
  • Once certified, maintain certification and program fidelity to the ABC model.
  • Engage in reflective practice and continued professional development.
  • Attend regular mandatory training and meetings to maintain knowledge of program goals and strategies.
Qualifications

Qualifications: Successful Parent Coaches are outgoing, authentic, self-motivated, organized, and excellent communicators. As an organization centering justice and racial equity, candidates must have proven success in building and managing relationships with Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities and coworkers. We seek candidates who have strong organizational skills and are strategic in their time management. Experience with data entry and comfort with or willingness to learn technology like Zoom, iMovie, and Google Suite is appreciated. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred. Coaches are expected to accommodate family schedules, providing services during evenings and on weekends as needed. Candidates who have background in the following areas are highly encouraged to apply: home visitation, infant and toddler mental health, child development or child development associate (CDA) roles, strengthening families (SFI) practice, Early Head Start, early childhood education, parenting education, adverse childhood experiences (ACES), early relational health, early intervention, as well as social services or family services to vulnerable populations.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in community outreach or direct work with families and young children. Experience with data entry and familiarity with or willingness to learn technology. Proven ability to build and manage relationships with diverse communities, particularly Black, Brown, and Indigenous populations. Self-motivated, reflective, organized, and strategic in time management. Outgoing, authentic, and excellent communication skills. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred. Experience providing home visiting services preferred.
