VHG Group is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teacher Director to help lead its newest bilingual (French-English) early childhood center in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The program serves children from 3 months to 2 years old in a warm, developmentally rich, and culturally diverse setting.
The Teacher Director will be responsible for both teaching and leadership functions β including classroom instruction, staff guidance, curriculum planning, and family engagement. This individual will ensure that daily operations align with VHG Groupβs mission, maintain compliance with all licensing and safety regulations, and foster an inclusive and bilingual learning environment.
The ideal candidate is an experienced early childhood educator who combines hands-on teaching with strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans and activities for infants and toddlers.
- Lead by example in providing nurturing, bilingual (French-English) classroom instruction and care.
- Support, coach, and collaborate with teaching staff to maintain consistent quality and best practices.
- Maintain compliance with all New York State early childhood licensing and health/safety regulations.
- Partner with families through proactive communication, sharing developmental updates and classroom highlights.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, developmental milestones, and assessments.
- Contribute to ongoing program evaluation, curriculum development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote VHG Groupβs values of diversity, inclusion, and bilingual education throughout the center.
- Education: Bachelorβs Degree in Early Childhood Education (required).
- Certification: NYS Early Childhood or Elementary Teaching Certification (preferred).
- Experience: At least 2 years of classroom experience working with infants and/or toddlers.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a nurturing classroom environment.
- Bilingual or French language skills highly valuable but not required.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred Education Level: NYS Teacher Certification
